Tamil in Android(ஆண்டிராய்டில் தமிழ்)

Here is the simple method to get ‘other’ lang support in Android.

Pre-requisite:

1. Root the phone (http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-root-your-android-phone-device/)

2. Install busy box

The above steps are not necessary for Custom ROMs like Kyrillos.

 

Procedure:

1. Install Font changer from https://market.android.com/details?id=com.martino2k6.fontchangerlite&feature=search_result

2. Download the suitable unicode font(Give try on a suitable for ur phone) from http://azhagi.com/freefonts.html (TABUni-Tamil021.ttf for Samsung Galaxy 3)

3. Connect ur phone in mass storage mode(USB) and copy the fonts to /sdcard/.fontchanger

4. Select the required(copied) font and apply. It will ask for reboot.

After rebooting you can get screen like the below.

Start any app like FB, twitter, browser and check for the display.
